How fast or slow should you drink water?

How you consume water to allow it to benefit your body the most is equally important as to how much water you should consume.  Adult bodies can use only 12 ounces of water at once. Consuming 8 ounces of water at a time throughout the day is optimal. It is also important to drink it slowly instead of gulping it down to get the best absorption rate.

How slow is slow? Has there been a study with the optimal ounce per minute? Is it okay to avoid gulps by drinking water in fast but small sips or should the sips be spaced out and if so how long between sips?
