Can you provide elderly people a sports drink to treat mild dehydration?

In mild cases of dehydration it is good to provide them with a hypotonic rehydration drink. These drinks have a lower electrolyte and sugar content that that of natural body fluids. Thus it will allow the body to absorb the hypotonic drink faster than it would absorb water and therefore hydrate the body faster than water would. It is important to make sure you provide them with an electrolyte drink or a hypotonic drink and not an energy drink. Energy drinks can cause harm to elderly people because it contains stimulants in quantities that are dangerous for them.
