There are certain factors that increase the risk of dehydration while a woman is pregnant.

  1. Fluids Deficiency – The weight, age, activity level, the relevant trimester, season, and climate all plays a role in how much water a pregnant women need to be properly hydrated. Warmer weather, increased activity, and humidity level cause for pregnant women to drink less water and be more prone to dehydration.
  2. Vomiting – During the first trimester morning sickness is at his worst. Many expecting mothers suffer from morning sickness through the entire pregnancy. Morning sickness is a significant risk for dehydration. Apart from morning sickness, food poisoning and a stomach virus can cause serious dehydration especially during pregnancy.
  3. High Humidity and Warm Weather – These weather conditions can cause increased perspiration that can easily contribute to dehydration.
  4. Air Travel – As unlikely it may seem, the cabin of an airplane do not have too much moisture present and can cause dehydration reasonably fast. Consuming small amounts of fluids frequently will help to restrict dehydration risks.
